“I’m not sure I heard you right.” Your brows knit together. “Did you just say NO goal setting this January?”
“Yes,” I say. Resting on the sofa, cloaked in a velvet robe and pajamas. I sip a cup of steaming chamomile tea. “Yes, I did.”
Now, I know it’s different from everything we’ve been told January should be about, particularly goal setting, but didn’t I just spend the last two months driving myself nuts trying to get everything done this holiday season?
Actually, this year, I didn’t. Go me! I listened to my Higher Self and purposefully slowed down in November and December. It worked so well that I’m continuing it into January. At the advice of my fabulous chiropractor, Carol LeBlanc, I’ve decided to make January my Restore, Rejuvenate & Recover month.
For the last two years, I’ve had the same Power Word/Mantra: Renewal. This year, I give myself permission to take a break and rest. So, you guessed it, my Power Word/Mantra for 2018 is REST.
This year, anytime I feel the urge to do one more thing, check another thing off my to-do list, or push myself a little harder, I’m going to stop and say, “REST!”
Initially, I rested due to illness during November and wrote about it in my post: 3 Healthy Holiday Habits for Empaths. But I eventually learned to rest voluntarily, to enjoy the seasonal, psychic change. I relish the experience of deep introversion.
Like a bear this January, hibernation is my M.O. I give myself the gift of time to go within without having to DO something or start something, to just BE. No new projects this month. No new goals. My focus is on self-care, prayer, and meditation. Staying connected to my Higher Self and continuing to hear and listen to the voice within will help me prioritize what I want to accomplish this year.
I’ll leave goal setting for February, after I’ve had plenty of time to REST.
